What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?

With Original Medicare, the federal government administers your Part A and Part B coverage. You can generally use any provider who accepts Medicare, and you may purchase a Medicare Supplement plan to help with out-of-pocket costs. With Medicare Advantage, you receive your Part A and Part B benefits through a private plan. The plan may have networks and specific rules for receiving care, but it also includes a yearly limit on covered medical out-of-pocket costs.
